Dr. Mulge was a college president chronically in quest of
endowments; he knew all about the rich. Knew, for example that they were like
gorillas, creatures not easily domesticated, deeply suspicious, alternately
bored and bad tempered. You had to approach them with caution, to handle them
gently and with a boundless cunning. And even then they might suddenly turn
savage on you and show their teeth.
